January 26, 1953 - March 31, 2020
Frank R. Vivola Sr., age 67, of the Bronx, NY, passed away on March 31, 2020. Frank was born in the Bronx, NY on January 26, 1953 to Louie and Assunta (Bastone) Vivola.
On September 8, 1973, he married the love of his life, Donna Albohn at St. Frances of Rome Church in the Bronx and they were blessed with two incredible children. Frank spent the early part of his life helping his parents run the family business, Volare Pizzeria in the Bronx.
Frank started his second career at the age of 36 with Con Edison. Family was the most important thing to Frank. He loved attending his sons' sporting events where he was not only their coach, but their biggest fan. He was a proud grandfather to four amazing grandchildren and spending time with them brought him tremendous joy. In addition to his own boys, Frank was also a cherished mentor to others in his community. Frank as a youth baseball coach and Executive Board Member for Pelham Bay Little League and the Bronx Condors. He also served as an assistant baseball coach for Salesian High School.
After Family, Frank's greatest passion in life was his union service. Frank was a Chief Shop Steward and Executive Board Member of UWUA Local 1-2. At home you could find him in "his spot" on his couch enjoying his home theater. You could not find a more devoted NY Yankees fan.
Frank was never seen without his signature mustache. His sense of humor affected everyone who met him and left an impression that can not be forgotten. He was a legendary ball-breaker and prided himself on "saying what he had to say". Although Frank loved to "dish it out" he was also remarkably thick skinned and if he had words with you one day, he would happily hug you the next day. Frank will be missed very much by all who knew and loved him.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Donna and children, Frank Vivola Jr. and daughter-in-law, Tara of Carmel, NY, Anthony Vivola and daughter-in-law, Jannice of the Bronx, NY.
Also Frank is also survived by his four cherished grandchildren ;"Poppy's Crew"; Natalie, AJ, Ellia and Max – each one of them held a very special place in his heart. And by his loving sister, Joanne Vivola and life partner Alison Shaiman, of Carmel, NY, nieces Deanna and Francesca and nephew Frank.
